About the Event
Your entry fee includes 3x soup samples. Additional soup tickets can be purchased for $2 each.
Celebrate harvest season with us; sample soups, dance to the music, grab a local brew, take a tractor ride, compete in a pie eating contest, send the kids on a pumpkin hunt, peruse local artists...all in support of improving food security in Calgary.
Soupalicious is a Canada wide event created by the Compost Council of Canada (CCC) and aims to support the growing of fresh food for donation to community food access organizations. As a community urban farm and project of the CCC, the vast majority of produce grown at Highfield Farm is donated to food access in Calgary. To increase our capacity and sustainability, proceeds from this event will support utilizing our new greenhouse to grow year-round, trial of exciting agri-technologies, and increase educational offerings to the Calgary community.

This year, our competitors will be battling it out for The First Place Pot - awarded by our panel of judges; and The Golden Ladle - our People’s Choice Award.
The Golden Ladle: This is our People’s Choice Award. Upon entry, ticket holders (that's you!) are given a poker chip. After sampling their chosen soups, they will vote by dropping their chip in the bucket associated with their favourite soup.
The First Place Pot: This award is determined by our panel of expert judges. They will judge within the first hour of the event and will do a blind taste tests of ALL SOUPS basing their decision on taste, creativity, and how well the feature ingredient was utilised.
This year, our honourable judges are:
- Sharon Hapton - the founder of Soup Sisters; a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing comfort to women, children and youth through the making, sharing and donating of soup.
- Bernice Hill - a Calgary based food blogger; the sole writer, recipe developer, photographer, and techie at Dish ‘n’ the Kitchen.
- Mayor Jyoti Gondek - that’s right! Calgary's 37th mayor and the first woman to be elected to this role.
