Seed to Table: Fall Soil Building

This is a collaborative event with Highfield Farm and The Calgary Horticultural Society. 

Fall is a great time to build your soil to give yourself a head start for future growing seasons.  As you remove annuals or plants die back, you may want to add something to your soil, such as compost, mulch or cover crop (green manure).  Whether you are looking for a soil-builder or have heard of cover crops but are unsure of when and how to use them, this class is for you!

Mike Dorion of Living Soil Solutions will introduce you to some fall soil building methods and tips that will help benefit your garden/acreage health.  As part of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to plant a farm section with a cover crop.

Note that this is an outdoor event and involves planting, so come dressed accordingly.  The event may be cancelled if extreme weather occurs, so if the weather is uncertain, please check your email before leaving home.
